Salary: Scale PO 3/4, £14,784 (actual salary) + 5% pension supplement
Hours: 14 hours per week

Southwark CABx Service has a track record of delivering high quality advice services from its bureaux in Peckham and Bermondsey and outreach locations across the London Borough of Southwark.

The Borough Advice Services Manager will report directly to the Borough Director and have responsibility for:

  • The strategic management, monitoring, evaluation and development of the advice services and projects throughout the borough
  • Developing consistency and ensuring the quality of service meets the required standards and client’s needs
  • Social policy development and management across the service
  • To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Substantial experience of staff management and supervision
  • Proven experience of developing, planning, monitoring and evaluating advice services and projects
  • Skills to develop and lead a team of specialist and generalist workers

    Debt Advice Team Supervisor/Caseworker

    Salary: Scale PO1, £18,688 (actual salary) + 5% pension supplement
    Hours: 21 hours per week

    Southwark Citizens Advice Bureaux Service is a member of Citizens Advice and partner in the Legal Services Commission (LSC) Social Welfare Law consortium across Southwark providing debt advice.

    We are looking to recruit an experienced part time Debt Team Supervisor to lead the money advice team and provide a high quality debt advice service. As well as managing the team, the successful applicant will assist clients with debt problems and advise on income maximisation issues.

    To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Significant recent experience as a debt caseworker with direct involvement in advising clients on debt issues and income maximisation including drawing up financial statements and negotiating with creditors etc.

  • Experience of staff supervision and self supervision

  • Commitment and understanding to the organisation’s “Aims & Principles” and equal opportunities policies.

  • Can demonstrate will be able to meet the LSC Debt Supervisor Standard through completion of Self Declaration Form (available in Application Pack) on starting or within 6 months of beginning in post.

    Salary: Scale SO1, £27,945 (pro rata for part time staff) + 5% pension supplement Hours: Full time (5 days per week) or part time (minimum of 2 days per week)
    Duration: Currently funded to 31st March 2013

    Southwark CABx Service is looking to recruit Generalist Advice Workers/Advice Session Supervisors. The postholders will be required to work between our Peckham and Bermondsey branches according to operational needs and at other locations within the London Borough of Southwark. Applications to work part time will be considered, subject to skills, experience and the needs of the service.

    The role includes:

    Supervising advice and gateway assessment sessions

    Providing advice to the public and undertaking casework on social welfare law issues

    Supporting and supervising a diverse team of volunteers

    Two of the advertised posts will also lead on undertaking casework in either employment or welfare benefits

    To be successful you will need:

  • Recent/ongoing experience of generalist advice work including Gateway Assessment and Advice Session Supervision
  • A good understanding of the following subject areas: welfare benefits, debt, housing and employment
  • Experience of volunteer supervision
  • The ability to analyse and interpret complex information including case records and to give constructive feedback to volunteers
  • To understand, empathise with and be committed to the Service’s aims, principles and equal opportunities policies
